This morning, the Optimist Killer at the Johnson City Animal Shelter, executed another innocent member of the feline community. Another very small member of the Felis silvestris catus group of earth residents met his death today the moment he was brought in.
He was a black tail-less kitten. A ferel kitten. A Manx. No more than 6 weeks old. A woman, another rude and anti-community staff member (this shelter has quite a few) did not seem to think a ferel kitten's life is worth much, in comparison to the "other" nice cats that they have available for adoption.
Down here, the community is forbidden to ask any questions, or express an opinion regarding the "quick killings." Fear tactics are being employed by everyone around here, from the shelter staff, animal control men and the local newspapers who refuse to print the truth about this shelter.
This little life, residents of Johnson City, TN. was not even given the obligatory one day of life! Forget about the 3 days which some caged animals sometimes grudgingly receive.
Tri-Cities residents, of all faiths and persuasions, this is a great evil that has taken root in the mentality and philosophy of the city rule makers and their supporters, which by the way, include members of the Humane Society. A citizen led, radical policy change, even a regime change is needed at this shelter.
There is a Gestapo - like attitude here. The community is being excluded from being active participants in the welfare of the animals. People are being scared into remaining quiet.
What more are they hiding? IF, there is nothing to hide, then let there be an official, daily log of EVERY animal that is brought in. The community wants to see a dated and timed log of arrivals, deaths and adoptions.
Call the City Manager, write or e-mail him. Call the shelter and express your outrage and distaste for this Kill form of animal control. There is a better way. Its the 6 step method of the No-Kill model.
